Principal's Message
Mr Stephen Mahoney
What is International Women’s Day? International Women’s Day is celebrated in
many countries around the world. It is a day when all women are recognised for
their achievements. International Women’s Day was first born out of labour
movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across
Europe.
Since those early days, International Women’s Day has grown in prominence and
reach, touching women in every corner of the world. The growing international
women's movement has helped make International Women’s Day a central point for
action, to build support for women's rights and their full participation in the
economy, politics, community and in everyday life.
As a College we celebrate and recognise the many women that are a part of our College community and the wonderful contribution they make each and every day.
As detailed on the Compass message to parents, staff will be engaged in a staff development day. No classes will occur on this day. If parents/carers need supervision for your son/daughter please contact the College on 8522 1500.
As detailed in a message on Compass to parents, on Monday, 11 March, a parent/student information evening will be held for all Year 7 students beginning at 6pm in the Carmody hall here at the College.
The purpose of the evening is to largely explain the Year 7 assessment schedule, procedures and rules surrounding formal assessments and examinations. Many students will be confronting formal assessment for the first time, and many will be faced with balancing schoolwork with other commitments such as sport, social activities and their wellbeing. We hope to explain our processes so all students and their families are aware and feel comfortable with the year ahead academically.
The night will also provide the opportunity to explain some significant upcoming events such as NAPLAN, Year 7 Camp and Sacramental opportunities for our youngest students.
We look forward to meeting parents/carers and students on the evening of Monday, 11 March. If students could please accompany parents/carers in full summer uniform and please sit with their parents/carers.
Please indicate your attendance at this meeting by clicking this link.
I ask Year 11 parents to keep Tuesday, 12 March free in your diary from 6.00pm - 7.00pm as we will be conducting our regular parent information night that specifically details HSC (Stage 6) assessment/attendance expectations, wellbeing support and information on pathways for students (postponed from Monday, 19 February) as they prepare for their Higher School Certificate.
Thank you to the many parents using the ‘Drop Off/Pick Up’ zone on Cross Road. Using this zone ensures the safety of all of our students. I include below photos of this zone for any parents that may be unsure of this part of Cross Road.
If parents could please avoid double parking on Cross Road during drop off and pick times at the College. Your assistance with this is very much appreciated.
I provide the following information from Transport for NSW on safety tips for School Pick/Drop Off Zones.
Up Up Cronulla !!! God Bless…
