STEM

STEM life at Auburn High School is exciting. We celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science last Friday, to honour this United Nation’s important Day which took place on Sunday 11th February.

STEM clubs are now opened during lunchtime, which means anyone passionate about Science, Maths or Technology can sign up, join in and explore their favourite subjects through academic or fun activities, revise or practise their skills to participate in sciences and maths competitions which will take place later during the year (see below).

So WATCH THIS SPACE for future announcements and key dates!

IDWGIS: For the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGIS) on Friday 8th February, we had a fantastic turnout of enthusiastic students from Junior and Senior schools who joined the event to learn about women scientists who were world changers and hear about some career pathways of Australian women, aerospace engineer, veterinarian and marine biologist, who have followed their passion in STEM. More importantly, we celebrated the day with a “fireworks in a glass”, a fun chemical experiment that created a crazy blast of colours, using the hydrophobic properties of oil in water and a splash of food colouring!
