Welcome new staff
Anna Naylor
Hello Auburn Community! I am Anna Naylor and I am an English and Humanities teacher, as well as the Wellbeing and Inclusion Learning Specialist. This year I am excited to say that I am teaching English and Education For Life, with Year 9, 11 and 12.
So a little bit about myself- I was born in Adelaide but raised in Melbourne, and I have recently (over the Christmas break) moved back from regional Victoria, the Grampians area, where I have been teaching for four years. Prior to that, I also spent a year in Western Australia where I worked as mentor at an Indigenous School. I completed my Bachelor Degree at Monash University and my Masters of Teaching at Australian Catholic University. I am an avid Collingwood supporter and love playing sports myself (tennis, netball, basketball and the occasional backyard cricket). I am very excited to be back in Melbourne.. although I haven’t missed the traffic!
Auburn High School already feels like home and I’m so thrilled to get to know all of the lovely students and parents. Bring on 2024!
Shiqi Yang
Hello! My name is Shiqi (Whitney) Yang. I am very excited to be teaching Maths at Auburn High School. I come from China and completed my high school education in Brisbane. After graduating from high school, I moved to Melbourne to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a Master of Teaching (Secondary) degree from the University of Melbourne. During my free time, I enjoy solving math challenges, traveling, and playing badminton. I am looking forward to working with our passionate staff at Auburn High School and contributing my knowledge and skills to support all my students in reaching their full potential.
Michaelle Tomolo
I’m excited to be joining the Auburn High School community as an English and English Language teacher. After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Master of Teaching at the University of Melbourne, I worked in schools in the northern suburbs of Melbourne teaching Italian, English and EAL and have advocated for equality and diversity in and out of the classroom. As a teacher, I hope to pass on my passion for language, literacy and multilingualism to my students. I can’t wait to keep getting to know you and to learn with you all, as well as practise my (Duolingo) French!
Chaya Wajntraub
Hi! My name is Chaya and I am feeling incredibly privileged to be so warmly welcomed into the Auburn High School community. I am teaching English this year as a paraprofessional working towards the completion of my Master of Teaching at The University of Melbourne. I have completed my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English and Theatre Studies at the same university, during which I specialised in postcolonial and diasporic literature. I am an avid reader and cat lover, so please don’t hesitate to say hello or ask for book recommendations at any time. I look forward to meeting you all!
Lushi Lin

For the past two years, I have been sharing my passion by assisting international students in high school.
I am looking forward to a fabulous year at AHS.
Craig Carpenter
Hi, my name is Craig Carpenter. I have three big passions in my life, my family, the Hawthorn Football Club and being part of the journey our kids take through high school.
I really enjoy getting to know my students and helping them improve their knowledge of maths and science. I have been teaching for about 15 years, spending my last ten years at East Doncaster Secondary College.
A local resident, I have always wanted to teach in my local area and look forward to becoming an important part of the AHS community.
