Student Leaders 2024

Student Leadership Conference

On Monday of Week 5, Alex, Connor, Aaradhya, Cadence, and Ethan attended the GRIP Primary School Leadership Conference at the Adelaide Entertainment Center. They joined with approximately 500 other student leaders from all over South Australia to explore the qualities and dispositions of a good leader, and to determine how to use these skills to bring positive change to their school and the wider community.

The students participated in games and challenges which were based around leadership skills, and had regular opportunities throughout the day to share their thoughts and ideas with each other. The students were able to discuss initiatives and make plans as a team, and then worked together to give insight to, and receive feedback from students representing the other 60 schools in attendance.

Here are some of their thoughts:

Cadence: We completed different things in a booklet and learned tips as a Student Leader. some fun things we did were some games called 'Loud Noises'. it was useful because it was teaching us skills to use as Student Leaders. The best part was the game called 'Cake or Fake', and all of the other games we played.

Alex: We learned how to be a better Student Leader. we did a lot of interesting stuff, and I enjoyed 'Loud Noises'. The best part was the games.

Aaradhya: On this excursion, we travelled to the Entertainment Centre, and we learned all about what good leadership is. We learned about the values of a good leader and we understand the importance of those values and skills. Something interesting was the quizzes- and questions, and the 'Loud Noises' games.  We got to learn about what leadership values are and it boosted our encouragement. The best part was playing the fun games with other schools.

Ethan: I liked that we played some games at the student leader conference and I even made a friend there! My favourite part was when we went outside to play because the grass was soft and me and one of my friends tried to do handstands. [I failed!] The bad part about it was when we had to sit down. It was a little boring but it was important so I had to stay awake. My other favourite part about going to the conference was all the bus rides and tram rides. We saw a lot of busy people wearing tuxedos and business suits. We also saw a homeless person on the way back to school and we all felt bad about it and talked about how we are going to save lives once were older. All of us did booklets and it had crosswords,  puzzles, and quizzes. One of my favoutie puzzles was the UNO one. It had stuff people do on the card and we had to find the person that could do it. I couldn’t find a person who moonwalked but another student from another school did! I’m still trying to this day.  Thanks for reading my parts of the student leader conference!
