Year 4/5/6
Cooking Adventures in Class: A Taste of Garden Fresh Delights!
We are thrilled to share with you the exciting culinary journey our students embarked on this week in our classroom! With the vibrant produce harvested from our very own school
garden, we transformed the parish hall into a bustling culinary hub, where creativity, teamwork, and delicious flavours flourished.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Barclay, Mr. Maddock, and Miss O'Sullivan, our budding chefs eagerly rolled up their sleeves and dived into the art of cooking, using an array of fresh ingredients to craft a delightful feast for the senses.
Menu Highlights:
Potato Balls: Crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside, these delectable potato balls were a hit among our young chefs. Using potatoes straight from the garden, students shaped, seasoned, and baked these savoury delights to perfection.
Spinach Sausage Rolls: Packed with nutritious spinach and wrapped in golden pastry, our homemade sausage rolls were a tasty twist on a classic favourite. Students embraced the challenge of rolling and filling each pastry with care and creativity.
Beetroot Hummus: Vibrant, creamy, and bursting with flavour, our beetroot hummus added a colourful touch to our culinary spread. With fresh beetroot sourced from our garden, students blended, seasoned, and garnished this nutritious dip with finesse.
Roast Veggies: From earthy beetroot to tender silverbeet and fragrant chives, our roast veggie medley showcased the bountiful harvest of our school garden. Students chopped, seasoned, and roasted these vegetables to perfection, creating a colourful and nutritious side dish.
A Team Effort:
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Barclay, Mr. Maddock, and Miss O'Sullivan for their invaluable guidance, support, and enthusiasm throughout our cooking adventure. Their dedication and expertise made this culinary experience not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable for our students.
As we reflect on our cooking adventures in the classroom, we are reminded of the invaluable lessons learned through hands-on experiences, teamwork, and creativity. Cooking not only nourishes the body but also fosters essential life skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and appreciation for fresh, wholesome ingredients.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we explore new horizons in education. We look forward to sharing more exciting adventures and discoveries with you in the weeks to come.
