From the Principal

Term 2 has been a long one, but what a terrific term it’s been! Our students and families have enjoyed a wide range of school and extracurricular opportunities, and it’s been a joy to see so many students thriving and parents enjoying each other’s company.

THANK YOU

At this half way point in the year, I want to take a moment to recognise the extraordinary efforts of our staff. Our teachers continue to go above and beyond—not only guiding students academically but also nurturing their social and emotional development. Today’s teachers wear many hats: they are educators, caregivers, mentors, counsellors, and supporters of families, often all in one day. Despite the challenges of the profession, they meet these responsibilities with compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of their students. A teacher’s life is a demanding but rewarding one.

In particular, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of the intervention and inclusion support staff who work with students with disabilities and those experiencing dysregulated behaviours. Their work is demanding and often complex, yet they approach it with patience, skill, and unwavering dedication. They build safe, inclusive environments where every student is valued and supported to achieve their personal best.

Our first aid staff play equally vital roles—responding quickly and calmly to injuries and illnesses, offering comfort and care in moments of distress, and keeping families informed when needed. Their presence provides reassurance to students and staff alike, and their work is a key part of maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.

Meanwhile, our front office staff have once again proven themselves to be the heart of the school—juggling calls, managing contractors and visitors, supporting first aid (every one of them is trained!), and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our school with efficiency and a sense of fun.

Our School Council members have also played an active role in supporting the governance of the school and organising a range of activities for the benefit of our school community including the recent Trivia night and undertaking planning work for the construction of a large, covered area.

To all our staff and school council members—thank you. You are the quiet force behind everything we do, and your dedication does not go unnoticed.

SCHOOL SAVINGS BONUS

Online access to the School Saving Bonus expired on 30 June 2025.  Any balance remaining is now being transferred to family accounts at the school in late July 2025. Families and schools do not need to action this transfer.

What our school will do: The accounts team will review which school activities have not yet been paid for (eg. Swimming, camps, excursion/incursion levy, SAKG fee for Years 3 and 4) and will allocate funds to these user-pays accounts.

What you can do: If you prefer the school savings bonus to cover a particular activity (eg. upcoming camp), please email the school so the fund is allocated to your preference.

Any balance from the SSB will rollover for use in future years if not all spent in 2025.

PREP ENROLMENTS

The school follows the state-wide transition process therefore parents must submit their enrolment application to their preferred school by Friday 25 July (first week back next term). This includes siblings of students already in the school. As our school is under an enrolment management plan, we are restricted to accepting those who live within the school zone, unless vacancies become available. We will only know of vacancies following the submission of enrolment applications.

Parents will receive written notification of the enrolment outcome between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August.

Please don’t delay: If you have a child commencing prep next year and you want to enrol your child at our school, please do not delay in submitting your application.

END OF TERM – Casual Clothes

Our Student Representative Council members always decide which charities we raise money for from our casual clothes day. This term they have decided that money from the gold coin donations collected this Friday will go to the Smith Family which is an Australian children’s charity supporting education.

Raising awareness of charity work helps our students realise how fortunate they are and develops empathy, social responsibility, and a sense of community. We would love parents to speak with their children about charities and the connection to the gold coin casual clothes days so students have a greater appreciation of why we do this.

TERM 2 END AND TERM 3 COMMENCEMENT

Term 2 ends at 2:30pm following a short assembly commencing at 2:00pm. Theircare are operating from this earlier time so don’t forget to book your child in if you need supervison. Theircare is also offering a fabulous vacation care program which is advertised further in this newsletter (and available on the school website).

Term 3 commences on Monday 21 July.

Have a happy, safe and warm holiday break
