Performing Arts

In Music all classes are learning new songs to both sing and play on recorder. Some drama games have also been a recent feature of some classes.
The preps are exploring beat and rhythm in the songs they have learnt and using simple percussive techniques to replicate the beats.
The classes from 1/2s have been applying their music learning from singing and playing the recorder to the xylophones in the music room.
In the 3/4 classes we are really developing our recorder playing skills, continue to learn new songs and explore how song lyrics can show a theme or tell a story.
The 5/6s are also exploring the language used in song lyrics while looking at the role of music in the history of silent films. The students are working in groups to create their own short silent films with inspiration from artists such as Charlie Chaplin.
Amongst all of these activities there is a lot of dynamic energy and creativity happening in Performing Arts classes each week.
