A message from Troy

Gratitude

Over the last two weeks, students have been noticing all the things around them they are grateful for. Classes were given the task of a scavenger hunt where they could notice different people, objects or surroundings they are appreciative of. Some classes set these challenges for homework, with the year 1/2's taking a picture and sharing it with the rest of the class.

Our continual focus is a lot about mindsets. Research has shown that continual practice of gratitude has a positive impact on the brain regions that are associated with emotional wellbeing. It often leads to a more positive outlook on different aspects of life rather than a focus on the negative.

With a focus on gratitude, we have created feathers to write or draw something that we are grateful for. This will create 182 feathers for every student in the school. Our Learn Stand Give Fly committee are going to take these colourful feather to create our wings of gratitude in the hall. Look out for this fantastic creation sometime in week 5.

Parent Survey

By now, many people may have received an email regarding a parent survey about Uraidla Primary School. We would appreciate it if you could complete the survey, as it provides valuable feedback on many aspects of the school and helps us identify areas for improvement as a team.  Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

David Booth Visit

Last Monday was National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. To celebrate, students participated in workshops presented by David Booth about Bush Tucker. Students were able to listen to information about gathering, hunting and collecting. David also brought a range of different artefacts for students to explore during the sessions. Students showed great curiosity, asking a range of questions about the past and different artefacts on display.

This is one of many opportunities students have had to work with Dave, and we look forward to working with him again later this year.

Book Week Incursion

New Flags

We would like to the Rebekkah Sharkie for donating a new set of flags for the school, which were delivered last week to our SRC Executives.

Casual Day fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who brought in a gold coin donation. Students raised a total of $173, which they have nominated RSPCA to be the charity the money is donated towards. Our last casual day money was put towards some new furniture for the library for student to enjoy in their breaks or during borrowing time.

Eloise football

U12 Football State Carnival

From the 4th of August to the 11th I had the opportunity to play football for SA in Maroochydore, Queensland. We played six games, one each day and we lost 4. We lost to QLD, NSW, VIC,WA but not by very much. We won 2 games , ACT and NT. We had the day off on Friday and as a team we went to Aussie World, which is a theme park. We also had an educational experience which was a version of The Amazing Race. We got to do it with the NT teams . We were put in groups and we ran around doing challenges. It was a really good experience, the weather was really nice and I had a great time playing footy and making new friends. Eloise Sasche.

Trampolines

You may have noticed that our playground trampolines have been sectioned off for quite some time. We are thrilled to announce that our rubber matting has been installed and final repairs should be completed on Monday. It will be great to have both trampolines working again as the weather begins to warm up. A big thank you to Darren Bond for providing a strong base so the trampolines can be used for years to come.

Margie's return

It has been my pleasure to be the Acting Principal over the past seven weeks at Uraidla Primary School. I'd also like to thank both Kelly Charlton and Katherine Martin for backfilling the Assistant Principal role. Margie will return on Monday, resuming her role as Principal. We'd also like to thank all of our Temporary Relief teachers during this time for backfilling a range of roles. We look forward to having Margie return.
