IGNITE

Year 9 IGNITE - showcase of emerging tech businesses at The Investment Expo

Last term, our Year 9 IGNITE students were immersed in a virtual stock market simulation, where they developed businesses based on emerging technologies. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore the intricacies of business and economics, honing their skills in investment decision-making and strategic responses to global events.

The culmination of their efforts was the Investment Expo, which was held on Thursday 26 June, where students presented sixteen innovative business ideas to our community.

Attendees were invited to offer their fictional investment interest, using tickets to support the ventures they found most promising. These contributions played a vital role in the final simulation calculations, providing students with valuable insights into investor perspectives.

The Expo was a resounding success, highlighting the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our students. We are grateful to anyone who participated and supported our young entrepreneurs and attended this event.

IGNITE student's prototype launched into space!

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of the RASCube-1 satellite on Monday 23 June, at 6:49 am Adelaide time, aboard the SpaceX Transporter-14 mission.

We are especially proud to highlight that one of our year 8 IGNITE students, Jackson B, had a prototype onboard. His innovative design includes photodiodes to detect space radiation and a Hall effect sensor to measure Earth's atmospheric electromagnetic field.

RASCube-1 is a collaborative satellite project involving students from seven countries, designed to provide hands-on experience in space technology and research. It offers students the opportunity to contribute to real-world scientific experiments in orbit. This innovative project was developed by Robinson Aerospace Systems, a local South Australian company based in the Barossa.

Congratulations on your project Jackson.
