From the Principal Class Team

Dear MRC Community,
We have enjoyed a smooth return to school despite the increasingly wet weather and cool temperatures. Because of this, students should continue to wear full Winter uniform.
We have had an action-packed first few weeks at the College, including a number of incursions and excursions detailed in the subsequent pages.
Students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 have received their NAPLAN results that were sent home last week. Staff will be involved in Professional Development to unpack the data and understand its implications for their students.
100 Days of School Milestones
On Thursday August 31st we celebrated our Graduate teachers, who have reached the milestone of teaching for 100 days. We celebrated their dedication, their resilience and their passion that bought them into this profession. Well done on making a difference in the lives of our students.
On Monday the 4th of August it was the 100 Days of School for Preps. All prep students were proud to celebrate 100 days of learning. During that time, they have settled into school, made friends and have celebrated many achievements together. They have had many learning experiences and enjoyed marking their 100th day by participating in Literacy and Numeracy activities based on the number 100.
Principal Day
On Friday August 1st we celebrated Principal day. Each of the principals received a special award and messages from the students. It was a great way to celebrate our principals for being a constant source of support, encouragement, and direction.
Course Counselling and Subject Selection
In other news, with assistance from their Mentor Teachers, students from Years 9 to 11 have now finalised their course selections for 2026. Well done to all staff involved in this complex process, with particular thanks to the Pathways and Operations Teams.
Student Absences

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
In the coming weeks our school will be conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday August 18th to Friday September 19th, 2025
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language. Last year we used the survey results to improve our curriculum and student wellbeing programs, as well as further enhancing our facilities.
Please speak to your child’s mentor teacher if you would like more information.
Have a safe weekend and stay warm,
Belinda Tirant
Assistant Principal- Student Management (Prep to Year 7).
