Nude food Competition

As part of our Wales Street Plastic Free July initiative, classes have been collecting data from week 11 last term and this week. Drum roll please…the winner is Prep D!! Congratulations Georgia and Prep D, we will get your $50 CERES voucher to you next week and you can decide what you would like for your class. Our Runner up is 2A and they will be receiving a $25 voucher for their efforts. Thank you to everyone who has been trying to reduce the amount of plastic sent to school.

Seedlings Club

On Fridays there is a new lunchtime club called the ‘Seedlings club’, this club will be an outside club and will be open to Prep to Grade 3 students, so they can be part of actions to support Sustainability at our school. Seedlings will meet outside the Speight St building at the start of lunch play. The Seedlings group is an initiative devised by the Sustainability group leaders who wished to include our younger students in helping our environment. 

Sustainability Group- new members

We welcome Grade 4 students Ruby A., Isabel H., Teresa M., Ivana P. and Saskia M. as new Sustainability Group members. We look forward to having you with us!

Container Deposit Scheme barcode- school donations

We have raised $59.90 through the container deposit scheme so far. This money will go towards buying bird nesting boxes to improve the biodiversity at Wales Street. 

If you would like to donate to Wales Street via the Container Deposit Scheme you can now use this barcode and Zone ID: C2000043989

Not all Container Deposit Scheme stations will accept this barcode as they are zoned into areas.

If you use a CDS station outside this area, you can still donate to the school by requesting a voucher and handing this into the office. 

Tree project

Our little seedlings are getting bigger and I am in the process of thinning them out and transplanting them to ensure we have enough to give to Tree project. We may also have enough to supplement planting at school or selling to our community to raise money for other Sustainability group projects or activities throughout the school. If anyone has any black seedling tubes (12 cm long) at home they could spare, we would be very grateful!
