Hello from Mrs Meyer

Dear Families,
Over the holidays, I had some time to think about what I wanted to say as I begin my time at Holy Cross. I had a neatly prepared composition about the joy of Easter, offering us new hope as we started on our journey together at our beautiful school. On Easter Monday, with the passing of Pope Francis, and today being ANZAC Day, I took time to reconsider my words and sense of Jubilation - for a moment at least.
As a Catholic community, we believe that after death comes resurrection. This reminds us that even in times of great change—or even loss—there is always hope. Yes, the journey requires effort. There are challenges to face, crosses to carry, and new horizons to explore. But the Cross, which shapes the way we live each day, stands as a powerful symbol. It calls us to the work ahead, while also reminding us of the deep hope, joy and connection we share in helping to build God’s dream for each of us.
So, amidst the newness and celebration, we are all aware there is much to do. Over the coming term, my focus will be on getting to know Holy Cross more deeply—our students, families, staff, and Parish community, and creating as many opportunities as I can for you to come to know me. At the same time, I’ll be working closely with our team address immediate priorities, especially those most important for the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care.
Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to say hello, and to the many students, parents and staff who have kindly welcomed me and responded to my tenacious curiosity as I settle in. Thanks also to Kellie and Kate who have done an incredible job in the Acting Principal and Deputy Principal positions, starting the year smoothly and preparing us for the upcoming review.
We hope that you were able to enjoy the long weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
Many Blessings,
Eloise Meyer

School Review: From Present to Future
Education is always an act of Hope that from the Present, looks to the future.
-Pope Francis
Next week, we are pleased to welcome two reviewers to Holy Cross as part of MACS' four-year Continuous Improvement cycle. During their visit, the reviewers will engage with representatives form our school community, including Fr Vincent, parents, students, and staff. They will also observe closely the day-to-day operations and evaluate the compliance of the school.
This is an exciting time for Holy Cross. The feedback gathered through the review process will offer valuable insights into our current strengths and opportunities for growth. It will provide clear, evidence-based findings that will support us in reflecting on who we are today, and guide us in making informed, strategic plans for the future.
School Tours and 2026 Enrolments
We have already had the pleasure of meeting students and their families looking to enrol at Holy Cross for 2026. Our weekend and evening tours have had a great response so far, so we have decided to add some additional times!
New Tours: 9.30am & 7.00pm Wednesday 14th May , and 10am on Saturday 17th May
Know a family with a child starting Prep next year?
We’d love your help in spreading the word! Invite them to come and experience the specialist learning spaces and the wonderful things happening at our school.
Next week, we’ll be putting up some fresh new signs around town to promote our school. If you know a great spot for one of our signs—or if you’d like to lend a hand during our tour sessions—we’d love to hear from you!
Let’s work together to welcome new families into our community.
School Upgrade Works
In August last year, Holy Cross was allocated $2.3 million to upgrade our drainage system, remove the existing portables, renovate two classrooms, and fully replace the current driveway and car park. We have been working closely with architects, MACS, and a team of drainage and civil engineering experts to ensure our plans meet the school’s needs. Due to the complexity of our site, the development process has taken longer than expected, but we are now nearing the final stages of completing the drawings and plans for approval. We anticipate that the works will begin by the end of the year, allowing us to take advantage of the summer months.
All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
