Around the school...
We welcome everyone back for Term 2, extending a special welcome to new students and families who join us this term.
Our recent holidays encompassed the Easter break, Anzac Day and significantly the passing of Pope Francis, a pivotal event for Christians worldwide. Teachers have taken time to observe and teach the children about these events and to follow the progress of the Conclave as it progresses to appoint a new pope.
Term 2 is shaping up quite quickly. Keep an eye out for the What’s On page sent home on Mondays, outlining events for the coming week. Students are provided a wide variety of academic, spiritual and sporting opportunities throughout the term. Event permissions are mostly via COMPASS and signing off on these promptly is appreciated. Tomorrow we welcome potential 2026 families to our open day. With Mother’s Day this weekend, we invite our mums, grandma’s and mother figures to a pancake breakfast hosted by staff in the Infants quad. Students will also have the chance to purchase a gift from the Mother’s Day stall organised by our P&F. Flyers have been sent home for both events. Families are welcome and encouraged to come along to school events such as the Catholic Schools Week Picnic, K-2 Cross Country, Primary/Secondary Athletics Carnival, K-2 liturgies, and class and school masses.
All students have begun learning new topics across most Key Learning Areas for the term. Staff are working hard to provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities for students so they may develop to their fullest. Some questions that you could use to find out about your child’s learning may include: What are you learning in … and why? How are you going with that? How do you know? How could you improve? Where do you go for help?
Upcoming staff development will focus on assessment and curriculum, leading to Semester 1 reports at the end of the term. Our first Staff Development is on Monday, 13 May.
Term Focus: Wearing our Uniform with Pride
The school uniform identifies the school within the community and develops a sense of school spirit and belonging within the student body. Uniforms identify our students for their own safety on and off-site and the health and safety of students when involved in school activities. Some specific uniform requirements, such as shoes, hair and jewellery, are directly related to student safety. The wearing of the correct school uniform is compulsory, and students are expected to arrive wearing it daily, ready to learn. Families are asked to ensure that each item of clothing is clearly labelled.
As the weather becomes cooler and warmer clothing is worn, please be reminded that May is our optional month for wearing the winter uniform. The primary fleece or jacket may be worn over the summer uniform, or students may wear the full winter uniform. We discourage wearing a combination of both. Winter uniform becomes compulsory on June 1.

Presentation Requirements
Hair
Haircuts should be neat and of natural colour. Unacceptable styles include but are not limited to: motifs cut into the hair, dreadlocks, cuts under number 2 blades, rats tails and unnatural colours. Hair, which touches the shoulders, should be tied back for safety reasons. Hair accessories such as ribbons, scrunchies, headbands etc, should be discreet and in the school colours of blue or white.
Uniform is monitored regularly by class teachers, Leaders of Student Care and the Leadership Team. A dated note from families is required if a student is not in the correct uniform, advising when the uniform will be able to be rectified. This is to be given to the class teacher.
The school will endeavour to work with families to keep the standard for uniform and presentation high.
