Senior School

Welcome To Term 2 ⭐️

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break. This term promises to be a busy and exciting one, filled with plenty of opportunities for growth and learning.

In Literacy, our focus will be on deepening students’ understanding of language and literature. We will be working on strengthening their writing and communication skills, while also building their vocabulary and refining their spelling abilities through our new spelling program, SpellEx.

In Numeracy, students will continue to develop their understanding and fluency with key concepts, procedures and processes. Through making connections, reasoning, problem-solving and regular practice, students will be challenged to think critically and apply their skills in meaningful ways.

This term we will be introducing Economics.  Students will investigate fads in relation to consumer choices and economic decision making. The Grade 5 and 6 students will investigate how businesses advertise and market products to consumers and consider the reasons a consumer fad may come about.

Hot Shots Superstars!

Congratulations to our Hot Shots Tennis team for making the grand final of interschool sports from Term 1. The final was played at Serpell PS last Thursday, against Serpell. Unfortunately, we didn't go away with the premiership, however, the grit and determination from all players was second to none! We are extremely proud of their efforts throughout the season, watching their skills develop and the great sportsmanship on display each week. Well done!

Grade 6 to Year 7 Transitions

Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition Forms – Reminder

A friendly reminder that all Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition Forms must be completed and returned to Mr Smith or Miss Black by Thursday, May 9.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the forms, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for your support in helping us ensure a smooth transition for all our students!

Cross Country

Congratulations to all students who participated in the recent Cross Country event! It was fantastic to see everyone give their best effort, showing determination, resilience and great sportsmanship throughout the day. Whether students were striving for a personal best, cheering on their peers, or simply enjoying being part of the event, the energy and enthusiasm on display were outstanding.

A big thank you to our staff and parent volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly — your support was greatly appreciated.

Family Morning

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and members of our school community who joined us for our Family Morning. It was wonderful to see so many families engaging with students’ learning and taking the time to explore our classrooms and displays. Your presence and support play a vital role in strengthening the connection between home and school, and we truly appreciate your ongoing involvement in our school community.

AFLW Visit

We were fortunate to have a visit from two AFLW players, Aileen Gilroy & Jenna Richardson, from Hawthorn Footy Club on Wednesday afternoon. The players shared lots about their experiences both on and off the field through a Q&A session. The students were highly engaged, asking some interesting questions throughout.

FUN FACTS

-Aileen Gilroy is from Ireland and played Gaelic Football and Soccer at a high level, before being poached to play here in Australia.

-Jenna Richardson started playing AFL for Donvale Footy Club at the age of 15 and her best friend is a former ACPS student!
