Principal's Report

Great Start to Term Two

Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break. It’s been wonderful to see our students return with such positive energy and enthusiasm for the Term ahead. Term 2 is already off to a strong start with a number of special events and celebrations in the past fortnight.

Last week, our school community paused to reflect and remember during our Anzac Day Assembly. I was incredibly proud to see our students uphold this important tradition with genuine respect and maturity. Through thoughtful readings, the laying of wreaths, and a shared moment of silence, students honoured the courage and sacrifice of Australian servicemen and women.

We had a fantastic day on Tuesday at our annual ACPS Cross Country! There was a buzz of excitement at the course as students cheered each other on, ran with determination, and embraced the challenge of our 2 km or 3 km events. Whether students were pushing themselves to beat their personal best or jogging alongside a friend, the energy, encouragement, and positivity on display embodied the spirit of ACPS. Congratulations to all students who participated—you should be proud of your efforts. A special congratulations to those who have qualified to represent ACPS at the District Cross Country on Monday 13 May at Ruffey Lake Park. We know you'll do yourselves and our school proud. A huge thank you to our staff for facilitating the day and to our families who volunteered their time to help out or to attend and support our event.

Our Learning Showcase Morning on Wednesday was a great way to start Term 2. It was great to see so many families able to join us in our classrooms, exploring student work, and engaging in hands-on activities alongside their children. The students absolutely love having their families visit so they can share their learning and classroom environment with the people who matter most to them. We understand how difficult it is to make school events during work hours and that there are also many families who would have loved to come if they could have. Watching our talented school band, The Muddy Puddles, and the cast of Seussical perform was a fitting way to conclude the morning. It was great to have an insight into how a Seussical rehearsal looks and to see the energy and passion that our students bring to all they do. It was also a real pleasure to welcome prospective families to our school as part of our Open Morning. The excitement across the school and the warm, genuine welcome shown by our community captured what makes ACPS such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.

Thank You – Term 1 Colour Run Success

A huge thank you to our incredible ACPS community for your enthusiastic support of the Colour Run held on the last day of school last Term! It was a vibrant, high-energy event filled with laughter, colour, and community spirit. Students had a fantastic time running through clouds of colour while being cheered on by friends, staff, and families. Thanks to your generosity and fundraising efforts, we raised $2060 that will go directly towards enhancing our school learning spaces for our students.

Thank you to our staff, students, and families for your ongoing support in making ACPS such a wonderful place to learn and grow

ACPS Thrive Day Bake Sale

Thank you for your generous support of Bake A Wish throughout Term 1. With your help, we've raised valuable funds for Make-A-Wish and brought joy to needy children — we’re so proud of what our school community has achieved.

As we begin Term 2, following our meeting with the JSC Year 3 and 4 students and hearing their ideas, we’re thrilled to introduce a new initiative: ACPS Thrive Day Bake Sales! This exciting event will be a fun way to strengthen our community spirit while raising funds for a special whole-school incursion or excursion at the end of the year.

Each grade will be able to host a bake stall during Term 2 and beyond. Our goal is to raise at least $300 per stall, and with your support, we’re confident we can make it happen.

Here’s how it works:

  • Every grade has be assigned a Monday to run their bake sale.
  • On your child’s date, we encourage families to bake and donate school-friendly treats, which can be dropped off at the canteen before school starts.
  • The stall will open after assembly, around 3:15 PM, for students to purchase items during the after-school period.
  • All proceeds will go directly towards a fun, whole-school experience to celebrate our students' achievements and the strength of our school community.
