Year 7

Congratulations to all of our year 7 students who have successfully completed their first term of secondary education. We are proud of your commitment to learning, your kindness to each other, your respect for your teachers, and your courage in always trying your best.
We have had a busy last couple of weeks of term. Students have juggled their studies, alongside extracurricular activities such as NAPLAN, an Aboriginal art workshop, Harmony Day, a Geography excursion and interschool sports.
Students were lucky enough to have Palawa artist, N’Dene Riley, come and create a collaborative piece of artwork with students. N’Dene is a well-known artist who has worked closely with the St Kilda Football Club. N’Dene shared her culture and story with students, inviting them to consider the land on which they live and learn. Students worked together to create a design using a combination of traditional Aboriginal symbols as well as their own shapes and drawings. This artwork will be hung for all current and future students to enjoy.
Harmony week continued with a very special event happening in B-Block. Students enjoyed food and drinks from various cultures, including a good old Australian sausage sizzle; Chinese lion dancing performers and African drummers. We thank our year 7 students for their acceptance and celebration of all cultures at Berwick.
We hope our year 7's enjoy their well-earned break. We look forward to seeing them again next term, fresh and ready for another wonderful term.
