Inter Boys' Cricket
On Tuesday, 11th of February, the Intermediate Boys' Cricket team jumped on a bus to play against Nossal High School and Hallam Secondary College (HSC). Unfortunately, HSC were a no show which meant the T10 game against Nossal HS was essentially a match to decide who would progress to the next stage. Winning the toss, Captains Kadyn Shipway and Jaxon Murphy, decided to field. Some sharp bowling kept Nossal to 82 from 10 overs and after a good start with the bat, they bowled and fielded well to keep our total to 70. Standout batsman was Trent Wesley who made 46 not out after the 10 overs.
Senior Boys' Cricket
The Berwick College Senior Boys' Cricket Team had two T10 games scheduled on the 11th of February, with our first match against Nossal and the second against Hallam. At the toss for the first game, we won and chose to bowl. Our opening bowlers, Zac and I (Shuhab) started things off strongly. Nossal had some solid opening batsmen, but we managed to keep them to a reasonable total until our first bowling change around the 5th over when Tyler got us our first breakthrough. Overall, we bowled and fielded well, though we did have a few overthrows and misfields that hurt us later in the game. Nossal ended their innings at 4/83 after 10 overs, with fantastic bowling from Tyler, Charlie and Muaaz, while in the field, Ashton, Matthew, Daniel and I put in great efforts. When it was our turn to bat, our openers, Charlie and Daniel, had a slow start, facing a maiden first over from Nossal's bowler with the new swinging Kookaburra ball. Things turned around quickly, and Daniel began smashing the ball all over, scoring 37 runs at a strike rate better than a run a ball, including two massive sixes into the bush. Charlie, as usual, played with professionalism, adding 17 runs. Our middle order of Tyler, Zac and Muaaz tried hard to chase the target, but we ended up just short at 4/73 after 10 overs, narrowly missing out on what would have been an incredible win.
In the second game, back-to-back with the first, I lost the toss, and we were sent in to bat first, which we wanted anyway. With our Player of the Match from the first game, Daniel, injured after a nasty bouncer to the back, Tyler and Zac opened for us. Both played very well, scoring 12 and 17 runs, respectively, and gave us a solid start. However, we lost a few quick wickets, with three going down for around 15 runs. Charlie came in at number four and started ramping adding quick and much-needed runs, after the mini-collapse. Towards the end of our innings, Muaaz, Taha and I managed to close it off, taking our total to 55/7, a slightly weaker score than our first game but still defendable. When it was our turn to bowl, Zac and Tyler opened, and Zac bowled an absolute beauty of an over. His first ball sent the off stump flying, and just two balls later, he did it again, another clean-bowled dismissal with the off stump flying. Tyler repeated Zac’s bowling and took another great wicket. Zac finished his two overs with remarkable figures of 2-4. After four overs, Hallam was 3/12. Unfortunately, their middle order was strong and began to build their innings. It’s important to mention that we had one of their key players stumped in the 6th over, but the square-leg umpire, a Hallam student didn’t call it, despite the fact he was clearly out of his crease. Muaaz later bowled a great over, taking a big wicket, but Hallam managed to score their winning runs in the 8th over, giving us a 2-0 defeat. Despite the losses, our team performed brilliantly against two very solid and strong teams, with standout batting from Charlie, Zac, Daniel, and Tyler, fantastic bowling from Tyler, Zac and Muaaz, and strong fielding from Steven, Matthew, Ryan, Tom, Taha and Ashton. The Senior boys such as Zac, Tyler and Charlie supported me in the field setting and helped me with the captaincy and leadership aspects of the game. The boys supported each other well, and it was a fun day of cricket with mates.
I’d like to thank Mr Harris and Ms Toth for coaching us throughout the day and making it such a fun and enjoyable experience.

Inter Boys' Baseball
Why did the baseball player get arrested? He stole second base.
The Berwick Baseball Boys' Inters had an entertaining, energy sapping game with Nossal this school term and the above pun describes the game very well. It was a game of stealing bases. The entertaining and energy sapping game went into double overtime as the teams were tied twice after two extra innings. The Berwick boys came back in the last inning as they were 8-4 down with just one inning left to play. They showed great fight and courage to get the game back level and after two extra innings shortly lost out by 12-10. The Nossal players managed to steal a few more bases in the extra innings and took the win. The umpires congratulated Berwick's fine spirit and respect towards officials.
The Berwick squad for the day was Hunter McCormack, Hudson Freeman, Ethan Fernando, Lucas Bennett, Brodie Scheiwiller, Dylan Delahunty, Micah Mittra, Wyatt Kent, Owen Blyth, Jensen Turner, Isaiah Prince, Ethan Smith, Max Hughan, Jaxon Bontemps, Charlie Bennett, Jack Henessy.
Inter Girls and Boys' Tennis
Intermediate Tennis.
This year Zoe Mason and I had the pleasure of supporting Intermediate Tennis at PRTC. The day was a congregation of many schools in the local area, including regional schools, which meant that there was quite the energy throughout the day. Our Intermediate Boys' competed well throughout the day though came up just short. Our Senior Boys' competed with the gusto and confidence you would expect, but they too, sadly came up short. Lastly the Intermediate Girls', many of whom had never played tennis before, were the standout performers. They too did not make it through, though the encouragement given to each other and the ability to keep competing made for some of the best moments of the day.
Overall, our journey ends here, but a great journey was had by all.

Junior Volleyball
The junior Volleyball teams had a great day playing all different schools at Dandenong Stadium. It was very competitive, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the day. Some special mentions to Winnie Henry, Noah Lee and Nika Mrozowski who were stand outs for the day. Year 7 Boys' had a tough final that finished with them coming home with the win and Year 8 Girls' smashed their final with their winning serves leaving them with the win! Overall, all teams had outstanding positive behaviour and a competitive streak which left Berwick College with some new flags to flaunt. All students should be very proud of their efforts.
Year 7 Boys' and Girls' Tennis
On Monday, 3rd of March, the Year 7 Boys' and Girls' Tennis team ventured out to Pakenham Regional Tennis centre to represent Berwick College. This was the division level of the competition.
The girls team consisted of Ileana Bashir, Mira Chan, Winnie Henry, Indy Longden and Alicia Manadheera.
The boys team was Rihaab Faris, Dharshan Kabaleeswaran, James Klaric and Taha Muaz.
Both teams fought hard and played in great spirit. We won the division in both the girls and boys competition. Well done to the girls and boys for achieving this level of competition and for playing with fairness and sportsmanship for the competition.

Inter Boys' Volleyball
Team A consist of James Cross, Xavier Hulme, Jaxon Murphy, Lachlan Price, Declan Ronalds, Jack Woods, Morgan Robinson.
The boys had only done a couple of trainings before playing their first game together against Nossal, a school who have strong teams in Volleyball. The boys played excellently together and had some incredible rallies, a team that looked like they had played and trained together for months. Unfortunately, they lost both sets but only by a couple of points; such a great game to watch. They then played Doveton and Timbarra where they won in the 3rd set, unfortunately Nossal won all games and made it through to the finals in their pool. Well done boys.
Team B consist of Koby Baxter, Lucas Bennett, Korben Leask, Toby Poretti, Harrison Rees, Trent Westra
Helper due to injury – Jack Szybkowski
Inter Girls' Volleyball
Team A: Played a total of three games and saved their win until the last game against Timbarra! The girls worked super well together and focused on their strong sets to move the ball around the court. Well done on your effort!
Team B: Played a total of three games against the same school, Fountain Gate Secondary. The girls went into the final with lots of excitement and despite losing by one point in the third set, they were by far the loudest team in the stadium. Great effort!
