Thank you to everyone who came along to our Mother's Day Picnic last Friday. It was lovely to see so many of our Mums and special guests share the occasion with our students. Please see some of the photos in our Mother's Day page. I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day.
This morning we participated in National Walk to School Day, where a number of students met together at Annello Way playground with some of our staff. We do this to encourage our families and students to get into the habit of walking to school now, and lead healthy, active lives into the future. Thanks to all of those who joined us.
I also was very privileged to attend the city of Casey "INSPIRE Leadership Day' with our School Captains Sophie and Zena and Vice Captains, Manuli and Rashdan yesterday. The event focused on Belonging & Connection from personal, cultural and environmental perspectives. We participated in 3 workshops provided by Casey council, including drama/improvisation skills, sustainability and indigenous connections. I was proud to see our Clyde PS leaders confidently sharing their ideas amongst students from other schools.
Hello! I'm Mr Kyle, and I'm so excited to be here at Clyde PS in 2025 as an integration Aid working alongside the Year 5 students. I'm studying Early Childhood Education, and I've always had a passion for working with and helping children. I love supporting and inspiring young learners to reach their full potential - that's one of the things that motivate me each day, and I am committed to making positive and meaningful connections/relationships with all the students.
Outside of school on weekends, I enjoy watching sport and cheering on my favourite teams, spending time with my family and friends, as well as going to the gym. On Sunday Mornings (During the AFL season) you'll find me coaching Foundation aged children with Auskick teaching them the fundamentals and basic skills to the game of AFL.
I'm really looking forward to my time at Clyde PS, and contributing to a positive and supportive school environment for all to thrive in.
To celebrate Education Week, we are holding an Open Morning next Friday, 23rd of May from 9:00-10:30am. Families are invited into their child/ren's classrooms to participate in some fun literacy and numeracy activities. We hope to see you all there!
Please remember, we have 2 student free days coming up this term.
Friday 30th May and;
Friday 6th June.
Team Kids will be taking bookings.
Monday 9th June is also a Public Holiday (King's Birthday). The school will not be operating on this day.
Congratulations to the below students!
Our wonderful Year 1 students performed during our assembly in AUSLAN. We are very proud of their efforts.
Our Senior Choir has been working hard recently and they have record themselves singing Solid Rock by Goanna. This recording is hopefully going to be a part of a Reconciliation project by Voices for Reconciliation, where a range of choir's videos are put together to make one video of the song. I am so proud of what the kids have achieved with hard work and a lot of practises.
Our Foundation 2026 tours commenced last week. If you have a child who will be starting school in 2026, please ensure that you enroll them via the digital Student Insight platform or if you know of any neighbours or friends with school starting children, please encourage them to register for one of our school tours by calling the office.
Recently, we had a new shade sail installed above the canteen to provide shelter for students when lining up.
This year, students at Clyde will be engaging with the text, The Truck Cat as part of Simultaneous Storytime, held on Wednesday May 21.
To build excitement for this event, on Wednesday, students began participating in the ‘Cats and Truckers’ game; where they are tasked identifying which fur child belongs to which teacher, by asking only yes or no questions. Teachers without cats are our ‘truckers’.
In two weeks, completed forms will be collected, and one prize will be awarded to a lucky student from each year level. Prizes will be handed out during PLT assemblies later this term.
It was exciting to see so many students busy working to identify our ‘cats’ and ‘Truckers’ during recess and lunch this week!
We have had a number of cases of headlice in our school and I seek your cooperation in checking your child’s hair this weekend.
Head lice do not transmit infectious diseases – they are transmitted by having head to head
contact with someone who has head lice. You may be reassured to know that head lice are commonly found in places other than at Clyde PS. Head lice are common in school-aged children and are the most adaptable of creatures. They have survived living solely on humans for 10,000 years!
What can you do?
I seek your cooperation in checking your child’s hair and in those instances where head lice or eggs are found, treating your child’s hair. Please visit the Better Health Channel website and search for “head lice (nits)” for advice on finding, treating and preventing head lice.
The school also has additional information available regarding treatment and controlling head lice. Please don’t hesitate to contact the office to obtain this information.
If head lice or eggs are found on your child’s hair you need to inform:
the school and advise when the treatment has started
parents or carers of your child’s friends so they too have the opportunity to detect and treat their children if necessary.
When can my child return to school?
Health regulations requires that where a child has head lice, that child should not return to school until the day after appropriate treatment has started. Please note, this refers only to those children who have live head lice and does not refer to head lice eggs. More information about exclusion requirements can be found by searching for “school exclusion table” with the Department of Health's website.
Clyde PS is aware that head lice can be a sensitive issue and is committed to maintaining your confidentiality.
