YEAR 7
Year 7 Visual Artists have been very busy this term learning about a range of Modern art movements, the techniques of the movements, and then applying these techniques to their own compositions. Students are also engaged in writing about their work, using art-specific language and editing techniques. The students' work is also displayed in the T-block hall for others to admire.
YEAR 8
Students in Year 8 have explored many different concepts and artists this term. Anthropomorphism has been the subject matter of many artworks with some very whimsical results. Students have enjoyed creating their own body of work, a range of paintings in various sizes, inspired by the artists explored including Alison Friend and Rona Green.
YEAR 9
Year 9 students have been working very hard this Term as they begin to develop their knowledge around artistic expression and movement through Art. Year 9 were tasked with brainstorming, developing, refining and creating their own Kinetic Art sculptures, as part of deepening their creative process understanding. They are looking at how these artworks can move in a specific way, which has taken some planning and trialing of sculptures to help create their own original works. Year 9 Visual Art students are evidently showing their creativity for art as they approach each piece with originality and passion throughout their elective subject.
YEAR 10
Contemporary portrait styles have been explored throughout the term. Year 10 have worked tirelessly creating multiple portraits in a variety of media. The final project was to create a portrait of someone you love and students have been very engaged. The portraits have been produced using different expressive forms including Realism, Impressionism and
expressionism.
YEAR 11
Year 11 Visual Art students have been developing their bodies of work exploring the theme of experiences. This has allowed students creative licence to pursue their intention and develop skills using a range of mediums and techniques along the way. Students also examine artists on a deeper level and develop skills in writing about art and artists, employing specific language and learning techniques in writing, and refining responses.
Year 11 Photography students have explored the camera, its applications and settings to explore photography through portraiture. Students have started to plan their photoshoot, exploring a topic of their choice. This involves planning, time management and following the editing process to process 10 of the most successful compositions.
YEAR 12
Students in Year 12 are working towards developing their bodies of work into successful artworks, exploring mediums and compositional elements along the way. The students are eagerly working towards developing the works which will be exhibited, in conjunction with the Design and Technology students' work, at the end of Term 2. Students are also developing and refining extended response questions and implementing their knowledge of artists and their artworks, vocabulary, understanding of the questions, and refining responses.
