Literacy Enrichment

If I had to choose two words to summarise Term 1 in the world of Literacy Enrichment, I would say: team-work and NAPLAN. 

I am certainly cheating a bit with a compound word and an acronym, but I’m sure you will forgive me. I chose team-work as students are being taught to approach extended writing in all subjects using the ‘Plan Draft, Edit’ approach, a collaboration that results in teachers across subject areas and year levels working together to improve student writing. 

NAPLAN is an obvious choice for this time of year. It is an opportunity for us to simultaneously receive a snapshot that is used alongside school data and observations to note where our students are right now, so that we can meet them at their point of need; and reflect on the effectiveness of our literacy and numeracy approaches.

I would also like to mention the Insight Creative Writing Competition we are advertising. It is a fantastic way of encouraging the talent of our budding authors.
