YEAR 7

Year 7 Music students have immersed in a unit learning about the concepts of music and their treatment in Pop music. Throughout the term, students have developed their keyboard skills and have learnt to play arrangements of Pop melodies, chords and bass lines on keyboard, guitar and ukulele. Students have enjoyed increasing their level of performance skills and have become confident performers through their consistent, positive approach to learning.

 

YEAR 8

Year 8 Music students have learnt about the musical characteristics of The Blues and how many Rock Music riffs use the Blues scale notes in their riffs and solos. Students have increased their skills on keyboard and guitar through the incorporation of chords and the focus of creating a riff medley arrangement, for their upcoming Performance Assessment. 

 

YEAR 10

This term, Year 10 Elective Music students have performed, listened and created music based on the topic, Music for Small Ensembles. Students were introduced to types of electronic modification used in Rock/Pop songs and the way it affected the concepts of music. Students performed songs including Paradise by ColdPlay, It’s a Long Way to the Top by AC/DC and Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. 

 

YEAR 12

Year 12 Music have investigated Music for the 20th and 21st Centuries for their Term 1 topic. The students have analysed various Rock/Pop repertoire with a focus on Dynamics & Expressive Techniques and how these are used to convey mood, Tone Colour and Texture. The students are currently rehearsing their Core and Elective performances as well as building on their Aural Skills for their upcoming HSC Exams this year.
