Gardening

This week in gardening we are celebrating Nature Play Week.

Nature play offers numerous benefits, including improved physical health, reduced stress, enhanced cognitive development, and increased environmental awareness, while also fostering creativity, independence, and social skills.

Using natural materials, we have been making shelters, concocting potions, observing the garden, and participating in sensory and imaginative play.

We have begun to plant out a sensory garden in the prep play area. Following consultation with students on what plants they would like to include, we are including a bush foods bed, and themes of minty, lemony, and interesting textures.  For now, we are asking students not to pick the plants in the sensory garden, to give them a chance to establish.

Early next term, we will be inviting F -2 families to come and share pumpkin soup, made from produce grown in the garden, and build some scarecrows for the garden. Keep an eye on your emails for more details coming soon!
