CRAFT

We have had a fantastic time felting in the art room this term! The outcomes are amazing and the perseverance the children have displayed to finish their term long projects have been admirable.
The prep/one class made felting rocks and then went on to make felted shapes that will be turned into a mobile once students complete a length of finger knitting. Class two used a pool noodle to needle felt fleece around the form and turn their shape into a design of their choice. These were wet felted and then further stitched into.
Class 3/4 made felted bowls using colours of their choice. Many sessions were spent wet felting to reduce the size and create a strong three-dimensional bowl shape.
Class 5 decided they wanted to use an underwater theme to create their felted designs. They used various wet and dry felting techniques depending on the outcomes they were after. The kids had a lot of fun using their imagination to complete these projects.
Term two all students will be creating stop motion art in collaboration with STEM. Very exciting indeed!
To support student learning, parents are invited to help out in the art room. You will need a current working with children check (WWCC). Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.
