ART

Students have been enjoying studying the works of Surrealist artists Salvador Dalí and René Magritte. Surrealism is a unique artistic style that presents everyday objects in an unusual way.
Prep/one children have created artworks by painting a sky and then tracing around their hands. They then used crayons to create rubbings to explore different textures. The hands were carefully cut out by the children and then stuck onto the sky background. We explored hands holding dinosaurs as a Surrealist concept. The kids loved this idea!
The grade two children have used watercolours to paint their Surrealist inspired eyes. We watched a video tutorial on how to draw a realistic eye then added unrealistic objects to the eyes. It is amazing to see how imaginative the students' artworks are.
Grade 3/4 students are thoroughly enjoying creating unrealistic size relationships in their artworks.
Grade 5/6 students are almost finished painting on stretched canvases using acrylic paints.
Term three we will be creating stop motion art in collaboration with STEM. very exciting time ahead indeed!
To support student learning, parents are invited to help in the art room. You will need a current working with children check (WWCC). Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.
