Special Activities and Events

I must make mention the wonderful events and activities we provide for our students here at PVNPS. These are not possible without the enthusiasm of our staff.

Just this term we have had a Year 1 dinner, and a Year 2 sleepover and Prep Breakfast is coming soon. We have had a prep excursion to the farm and 3/4's to the Melbourne Museum/Imax, just to name a few.

Our year 3/4's and 5/6's are having a two-night camp later this year and hopefully taking as many students as we can as this is a terrific experience for them.

Year 3/4 - Arrabri Adventure Camp: 15th-17th September

Year 5/6 Alexandra Adventure Resort: 6th-8th October

Thank you to Ms Jones for getting all the arrangements underway!

The school start bonus has been a great help to families this year for all the extras that we provide for students.

Thank you to the families who have paid their school parent payments for their books for the year and to further support our curriculum programs. We are still in great need of more payments from families yet to contribute.

Thank you to School Council for also contributing an additional $1000 into each of our Specialist Programs to support new and exciting resources for our students to use.

Communications

It is important for families to know that you can directly email your classroom teacher or Specialists via COMPASS. This is extremely important if you want to inform them of something or ask questions around your child's wellbeing or learning.

Emails that come to the Pascoe Vale North Primary email address will get sorted and passed onto relevant staff: some come directly to me, some to Ms McAlister and some to Dimi.

If something is urgent or highly important for the teacher to know, then a phone call is one strategy or speaking directly to the teacher at the soft start bell.

COMPASS communications are the way we communicate. Our School Newsletter has a list of Term 2 dates and your own Team Leader sends out important specific dates for their year level as well. therefore, please make sure you are up to date with these communications so your child/ren do not miss out.

Grant Seeking

Over the past three years I have applied for a capital works grant with the support of School Council to get a permanent hard shelter cover for our Basketball court. This would allow us to have assemblies, events, sports classes etc outdoors when the weather is too hot or its just lightly raining. I have attached video messages from our students, our PE Teacher and also research around the sunshade required.

All with no luck!

The VSBA continue to advise me that other schools were greater in need for toilet makeovers or playground shelter etc. They suggest I apply when the grants come out again next year - and I do. We are told that we need over 500 students to even be considered for a large gym to be built!

However, this year School Council along with myself will be ensuring we have meetings with Federal and Local politicians to state our concern over a lack of funding for PVNPS and give them outlines of our 'Plan on a page' which is just about ready.

If anyone knows of any further grants or strategies to assist us in  achieving  this structure for our school, then please email me directly and we can chat further.
