Gardening at Pascoe Vale North Primary School
Greetings!
I am proud to share with you some progress made to our herb garden that desperately needed a tender loving care early this year.
Back in March, I registered our school for a free gardening incursion offered by Victorian Schools Garden Program. How excited I was to learn that our school had won and that the free incursion would be on Garden Rejuvenation, exactly what our herb garden needed!
Today, we were honoured to host James Mc Lennan, the presenter from VSGP, who has worked extensively with schools around Victoria on various topics such as compost, from garden to kitchen, gardening for insects, garden rejuvenation, three ways to start a garden and worms in school. James lives in the Otways and drove for two and a half hours to get to our school this morning! He shared his expert advice on how to make our soil zing and help our garden buzzing with life again. Please read below what Rosie Smith and Isabella Van Buuren had written about their experience.
To ensure that the incursion would be a success, I had to collect a number of organic materials. I would like to thank particularly Narelle Barassi in the office for helping me resource some straws and horse manure and Sieng, the proprietor of George Jones Eatery, for allowing me to collect buckets of coffee grinds almost daily in the past 3 weeks.
