Further Ceramics

Towards the end of Term 2, students constructed wall vases. Each student was able to choose their final design - the idea was to tell a story about themselves. Most vases were inspired by the students passions, interests or hobbies.

In the Kitchen

The cooking room was very busy during the last week of term 2. Year 7's were exploring the Food aspect of their subject - Food and Fibre. While middle school students studying Food for Life chose their own recipe to make something for the major assessment. Students were feeling a little camera shy in Cooking for Two, but I did manage to snap a few pictures.

For their major assessment - cooking everything from sausage rolls, to gozleme, to marshmallow slice.

The pictures below showcase some of the Year 7s in action while they prepare a cinnamon tea cake.

Indonesian

At the end of Term 2, Year 7 students finished their semester with fun activities. The classroom was set up as a market where students pretended to be shop vendors and customers. They used real Indonesian currency for this activity, practicing their bargaining skills in Indonesian. This activity was followed by watching a cartoon folklore in Indonesian with English subtitles called Seruling si Kura-kura (The Turtle Flute). The session concluded with students enjoying some snacks before leaving the class.
