DIOCESAN ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The Armidale Diocesan Athletics Carnival will be held at The Tamworth Regional Athletics Centre on Friday the 9th of August (Week 3). Students who qualified have receive a permission form on COMPASS and information about the events they have qualified for in a separate note. Please ensure permission is given ASAP as I will need to officially withdraw students from their events if they are not able to attend.

Diocesan Athletics Training

Starts this week at Golland Fields!

As mentioned at the end of last Term, we have been very lucky to acquire the coaching skills of Kev Tayor. Kev has had a long and successful coaching career in athletics, coaching many junior athletes at state and national level. Kev is a friend of our school and as many of you know his wife Cate dedicated many of her teaching years to St Joey's. We thank both Kev and Cate for volunteering their time to assist our students in their preparation for our Diocesan Carnival.

We will have 3 coaching sessions starting tomorrow (Wednesday 24th July) and continuing each Wednesday for 3 weeks in the lead up to the carnival. Training will commence at 4pm and conclude by 5pm. I will be in attendance at each training session as well. Training will include sprint practice, relay baton change practice and if time allows, field event practice. If there is anyone whose child wishes to participate in practices but has trouble getting them there, please let me know by email or phoning the school.  mbartholomew@arm.catholic.edu.au

School based sport sessions return to Wednesday's only this term. This means sports uniform will only need to be worn on Wednesdays. Students will build on skills used in net and court games (with a basketball and volleyball focus) such as ball control, game play and game tactics.
