Lisa Bail competed at the School Sport Australia National Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast from the 27th - 31st of July as part of Team Vic. Lisa has written her own report about her experience.

2024 SSA National Swimming Championships

I was lucky enough to compete at the school national swimming championships on the Gold Coast from the 27th to the 31st of July in 11 events. It was an amazing experience. It was great meeting new people especially from Fiji, they were incredibly nice and performed for everyone on multiple occasions. I cannot thank my coaches that got me there and the coaches and managers that were at the meet. They were all incredible.

On the first day we warmed up in the competition pool, it was crowded but the weather was perfect. Then we all went and played lawn bowls to get to know each other better and make new friends. I was able to get closer with the other multiclass swimmers at this activity. They're all very different but all very nice and amazing people.

On the second day we all went around and swapped pins during the two sessions to make our collections epic. After those sessions we all went and joined the other 5 sports for the opening ceremony. After which a friend and I were trying to find our ride back to our accommodation, right as we were lost we found a giant autism sign which made for a fun joke since we both have autism.

On the fourth day we had a huge combined team experience which was so much fun.

On the last day we all said our goodbyes and thanked the amazing coaches and team managers.

My relay team came 5th in the medley relay and 6th in the freestyle relay.
