MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL
This week I received the welcome news that we, St Mary MacKillop College, are the recipients of $6 million from the State Government Catholic Capital Grants funding program. The is very exciting news, as we continue to work towards building our school on a new site at 183 Gray St, Swan Hill. Our Development Plan is currently being completed, to be submitted to Swan Hill Rural City Council this week. I am grateful for the hard work of David Rush, Business Manager, and support from the Dicosean of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) staff, as well as The Hon. Peter Walsh MP and Mayor Stuart King, who have offered much support to us. After many years of planning, hopefully our first stage will be under way in 2025. I look forward to providing more updates in the future.
We are in the process of employing a new Personal Assistant to the Deputy Principals. If you, or someone you know, are interested in this position, or another job at the school, check out our website, smmc.vic.edu.au, and apply.
This week all Grade 6 students that have submitted an application to join our school in Year 7 2025 were invited to attend the second Transition Day. Damien Hirst and many teachers have put in a great deal of effort to ensure the newest members of our school community will have a great day and learn more about our wonderful school.
Currently there are a small number of places available for enrolment in 2025. Anyone interested is encouraged to make contact with Damien Hirst, Transition Coordinator, or Emma Webb, Personal Assistant to the Principal, for more information.
A number of our sporting teams have had wins and come runners-up in Netball and Football competitions over the past two weeks. I have been told by coaches that our students have represented themselves and our school in an exemplary manner. Well done to all students and staff involved.
Our school production cast and crew are continuing to rehearse for “Legally Blonde”, which opens in a matter of weeks. Don’t miss out on seeing our star students in action. Tickets can be purchased online or through the front office of the school.
