Myrniong Olympics

The Junior School Green and Gold Day on Friday 2 August culminated with our own mini-Olympics. A special guest, Mrs Natalie Povey, delivered to the competitors on a green and gold gator, presented the Olympic torch to herald the opening of the games.  Mr Hawthorne read the Olympic Oath, releasing Team Greece, USA, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and France into the field of competition. There was ‘no quarter given no quarter asked’ by the competitors as they took on the torch relay, Irish potato race, hoop dash, tunnel ball and Japanese Chopstick relay.  A great time was had by all.  Team New Zealand were the eventual winners on the day. Thanks to Mr Hawthorne, the Junior School staff, Mrs Povey, Mr Kennedy and Prep to Year 6 athletes for a wonderful afternoon of sports.
