Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,
This edition of the Pilgrim School newsletter is brought to you by the Year 5 class. As a class we have reflected on Term 2 and what it means to begin a new term.
We concluded Term 2 with our Musical, The Peace Child. This story of two rival tribes taunting each other across a river which divided them, reminded us of what goes on around our world and even closer to home, in our friendships. The story goes on and the tribes find peace, through a heartbreaking sacrifice. It reminded us of God’s love for us through His son, Jesus. The Peace Child is a story of hope, love and new beginnings.
Our novel study last term was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This was a story about good versus evil, sacrifice, hope and love. Aslan gave his life for Edmund who was a traitor. Jesus died for all of us even when we turn away from God. He continues to love us unconditionally. He is with us always.
Both of these stories remind us of God’s unconditional love, peace and sacrifice for us. God’s grace brings hope and new beginnings.
This new term begins with hopes and goals and we acknowledge that there may be some hard times too. We are thankful to God for His guidance and help, through the ups and downs, and thankful that He loves us unconditionally and is with us always.
Here are some verses that we looked at during our first week back this term and we hope they encourage you too.
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!
Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Phil 4:6 & 7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 3:5 & 6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the Pilgrim School Newsletter.
