Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,

Welcome to the final newsletter for this semester.

Parent /Teacher Interviews

We look forward to hosting our parent/teacher interviews next week. Based on your feedback from last year, we will once again be holding all interviews in the gym. Your child’s report will be open for viewing on Monday afternoon. It would be great for you to have a read before your interview so that you can discuss any highlights or concerns with the teacher. Specialist teachers will be available on either Tuesday or Wednesday for you to visit on a drop-in basis. You do not require a booking to chat to them.

Parents Battle of the Bands

I am so excited to announce that we have a newly formed parent band (NAME TBA!). Slowly but surely over the last few weeks, our very talented parents reached out and suddenly we have a band! They had their first jam session last week. We are scheduled to compete in Parents Battle of the Bands on Friday 8 August at Lucky 13 in Moorabbin. It would be great to have a big SEPS fan club there on the night. All proceeds from the ticket sales come back to our school for our music program so please make sure you tick SEPS when you book tickets. Information for bookings will be shared next week.

Cyber Safety

A reminder that we will be hosting our cyber safety seminar Raising Kids in a Digital World during Week 1 next term - Wednesday 23 July at 7pm. The parents from Hampton PS will be joining us for the seminar which will be covering some very relevant topics including social media, online gaming, impacts of screen time, cyber bullying and AI. We were fortunate enough to receive this fully subsidized program courtesy of Bendigo Bank. Please see the attached flyer to register for the event. Please note that this event is strictly parents and carers only. Students will not be allowed to participate due to the nature of the content. (Please register via the link below).

New LED Screen

Thanks to the hugely successful Parent Gala that was hosted by SEPS Social last term, we were able to raise part of the funds for our new LED screen in the gym. It is going to be wonderful to finally have a screen that students can see! It will mean much better viewing for assemblies, graduation and special events. It will also serve as a fancy scoreboard for sporting events. I know the SEPS Social team have been eagerly awaiting installation for a fun event planned for later the year. I am pleased to announce that installation will begin over the holidays and have my fingers crossed that it will be ready to go when we return next term!

Performing Arts & Assembly

Next term marks the beginning of our performing arts term. Students will engage in weekly dance sessions and rehearsals in preparation for our production, A Night At the Museum, on Tuesday 16 September (save the date). If anyone has a contact in printing or marketing that could assist us with the printing of our concert programs, please contact the office.

To cater for the weekly dance incursion, we will be moving assembly for the duration of Term 3 to Monday afternoons. Parents/carers are still welcome to join us at our afternoon assemblies at 3pm.

Wishing you all a wonderful winter break! Stay warm and stay safe.
