Reminders:

Parent-Teacher Interviews are now open for booking via Compass. Tuesday, 1st of July and Wednesday, 2nd of July.

Bike Ed' will run on both Monday and Wednesday next week.

Inquiry

Our entrepreneurs have been working steadfastly on their Upcycle Projects. Several teams have designed innovative plant holders and terrariums. We also have several options for storage and recycled bags. Next week, the students will present their proposal and will demonstrate the use of their product to a Shark Tank.

Maths

Over the past fortnight, our Level 5 students have been busy exploring transformations of 2D shapes, including translations, reflections, and rotations. They’ve also deepened their understanding of both 12-hour and 24-hour time, learning to read timetables and calculate elapsed time with confidence. As we move forward, students will be revising key strategies for subtraction and division, focusing on applying efficient methods to solve problems and explain their reasoning. This revision will help strengthen their number fluency and prepare them for more complex problem-solving tasks ahead in Semester 2.

Literacy

The students are wrapping up their analysis of our mentor text 'Landovel' this cycle. The students have shown amazing growth in their inferencing, comprehending and deconstructing chapters, using text features in their writing.

Speaking of Writing... our Level 5 students are publishing a picture story book for their Foundation buddies, incorporating things they've learnt about their buddies over this Semester.

Bike Education

Our cyclists have learnt to correctly wear their helmets and to conduct an ABCDE check of their bikes. Once all of their equipment was checked, they have practised slow riding, one-handed riding, completing head checks, manoeuvring with one hand and companion riding.

Next week, the students will have the final two sessions, on Monday and Wednesday.

NAIDOC Week (6th - 13th of July 2025)

Below is the official NAIDOC Week poster. We would encourage households to discuss what the image symbolises. Here is the summary included in the poster below:

This artwork is a visual representation of the generational lines that carry through my mob. When I think of the next generation, I think towards my ancestors—Lucy Wright, Enoch Wright, Nonie Wright—through to my Nanna Audrie and my Mother Vanessa. Looking back gives me the strength and vision to look forward. Each figure in the painting is tied to family lines, like songlines, reflecting what they knew and what they passed on. The first represents lore, hunting, and tracking. The second reflects care, weaving, and love. The third shows the two combined, while the final two carry unfinished elements—symbols of knowledge and care in motion. Above them sits the essence of Country—swirling skies and a giant moon over Emmaville. It is by the fire, under these cool skies, where the next generation finds their strength, vision, and legacy.

From the Level 5 team to our loving community, we hope you all have a safe and happy Term 2 holiday break. We are so excited for Semester 2 and all the amazing learning experinces we have in store!
