Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

How time flies with our current preps nearly halfway through their first year of school, and planning underway for our 2026 preps. If you have a child due to start prep next year, please be sure to drop past the office to collect enrolment forms. The sooner these are returned to us, the sooner we can get plans sorted for our upcoming transition days. Of course if you know of anyone not already part of our community with a child for prep next year, please encourage them to do the same.

Last week at assembly, I took the opportunity to remind all of our students about our school value of respect. I took this opportunity because of late, there have been some instances where respect towards staff has not been shown which is firstly out of character for our students, and secondly completely unacceptable.

This of course is not the norm, and certainly not behaviour shown by the bulk of students. To help address this we ask your assistance in relaying the same message to your children as we are doing with our students. Together, we can nip this in the bud and celebrate what Mackellar students are renown for which is very polite, respectful and caring students.

Starting with this edition of the newsletter, an additional page will be included leading up to the release of the Parent Opinion Survey (a different survey to the one spoken about by our school council president on his newsletter page). In these pages we will be addressing different factors of the survey so parents can make an informed choice when completing it. I hope you can spare a few minutes to read over them, and when the times comes, as many parents as possible can complete the survey in term three.

Finally, a reminder that school finishes for term two on Friday July 4th at 2:30pm. Please mark the early finish in your diary. As always, TheirCare is available from 2:30pm and over the school holiday period for families whose children require supervision.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
