From the Principal

St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating over 40 years of Catholic Education

Dear Families and Friends,

First Eucharist

We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to the Year 4 students who celebrated their First Eucharist last weekend. This is a very special milestone in your faith journey, and we are so proud of the reverence, joy, and commitment they showed during this important celebration.

Thank you to Mrs Snell, Mrs Rowlings, Mr Mosele, Mrs Mulholland and Ms Pitt who attended one of the Eucharist Mases and also to the families, and parish community who supported the students in preparing for this sacrament.

May this be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Jesus through the Eucharist.

Congratulations Year 4!

Eastern Metropolitan Regional Cross Country

Last week we had 6 students from years 3-6 who took on the grueling course at the Yarra Glen Racecourse in the Regional Cross Country Championships. To reach Regionals is a phenomenal achievement and we cannot state how proud we are of our students.

Jackson D, Oli M and Kabe M all took part in the Boys 9/10 race that ran over 2000m. All 3 boys left everything out there and all ran fantastic times with Jackson placing 15th and just missing out on an invitation to the State Championships. Charlotte G bravely battled through a rolled ankle in her Girls 9/10 race and showed great determination throughout. Cristian L ran an amazing time and finished in a large chunk of runners for his Boys 12/13 race. Cristian also raced against a world record holder for that age over 3km which is a wonderful experience to have. Lastly, Sienna Z took on the Girls 12/13 race over 3km and absolutely ran herself into the ground, leaving nothing left in the tank. Sienna dug deep on the home stretch to finish an incredible 7th place and booked her place in the State Championships, which will be held at Yarra Glen in late July. It is our first student to reach the state championships since 2019.

We are so proud of all of our runners who represented themselves and the school so well in tough and competitive races. Well done and best of luck to Sienna Z who will no doubt give it her absolute all in a few weeks time.

Chickens

We are asking for volunteers to help look after our chickens over the school holidays. Not only do our chickens need fresh water, food topped up and their eggs collected, they also need some human visitors. For more details, please refer to Chicken Carers page in our newsletter.

Music Soiree

Thank you to all who were involved in our Music Soiree held on Wednesday night. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of the amazing musical learnings that have been untaken by the students at St Justin's.

Professional Learning - School Closure Days

Ongoing professional learning is essential for St Justin's to keep abreast of the latest in education. Please note there will be no school for students on these days.

Term 3 Monday 11th August - School Closure Day - Staff Professional Learning Day Focus: UFLI  Phonics

Please note that these days are not taken lightly - they are essential for us to continue supporting our students at St Justin's.

New Sign

It's not alway easy to read all the information on our new electronic sign out the front. We've added a new slide which is only displayed on Wednesdays - it's worth a look.

All the best,

Pat
