Mokare Day, Milestones & Meaningful Moments

Mokare Day brought colour, creativity, and career aspirations to life as students dressed up as their dream jobs, from Camp Coordinators and FBI agents to WAGs and artists. The costumes were both impressive and entertaining, but I must admit, I was deeply offended that no one dressed up as me! Keys at the ready, coffee on the go, and a calm-but-commanding presence, surely someone dreams of being the Head of a Senior Girls' Boarding House… right?

The whole school came together for the Interhouse Athletics Carnival, and it was brilliant to see the energy, house pride and determination of all involved. I had the pleasure of working the finish line and was so proud of how hard our boarders pushed themselves, right to the very last metre!

A highlight for several of our senior students was the Gate to Plate function held at Retravision Stadium. Emmeline and Rif, along with the Hospitality students, took on the challenge of waitressing at this prestigious event. The evening was a hit, and according to Rif, the steak was a solid chef’s kiss!

This fortnight we also said farewell to our much-loved boarding supervisor, Mikaela Burton. Mikaela has been a warm, calm, and constant presence in Breaksea over the past two years. We farewelled her with a special afternoon tea, some flowers, and a gift voucher for her growing family. We wish Mikaela all the very best for the exciting journey ahead as she awaits the arrival of her baby.

Birthday cheers went out to Madison Beeck, Azriel Bin Omar, Elina Caelli and Amy van der Merwe, we hope each of you had a wonderful celebration!

We also want to give a massive shoutout to Chloe Climie, Amy Medway, and Rif McNeil for taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave. Not only were they brave enough to cut their hair, but they also raised money for an incredibly worthy cause. The new looks are fabulous, and we’re so proud of you all!

Our Year Twelve ATAR students are deep in exam preparation mode, showing real grit and commitment, they’ve been wonderful role models for the younger students.

Thank you so much to Mrs Julieanne Clime, Chloe’s mum, for the thoughtful and generous study care packages for our Year Twelves.

They were an absolute hit, so much so that they were snapped up before I had a chance to get a photo of how amazing they looked! Your kindness and support mean a great deal during this busy time.

Year Ten exams kick off next week, with Year Elevens to follow the week after.

Boarding Tutoring Schedule

To support our boarders’ academic success, we’ve arranged a special tutoring program just for them:

Mathematics: Mr Ross Barnett  – Monday, Weeks 7,8 & 9, 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Humanities: Mr Tone Ritchie – Tuesday, Weeks 7, 8 & 9, 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Science: Mr Grant Taylor– Thursday, Weeks 7 & 8, 3.30pm to 5.30pm

Chemistry: Mr Darrent Hughes  – Sunday, Week 7, 6.30pm to 8.30pm

English: Ms Kate Valleri works in Breaksea on a Tuesday afternoon and can assist with any English-related questions.

In addition, academic support is also available in the school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. This is another great opportunity to ask questions, revise with teacher guidance, and feel more confident heading into exams.

Finally, a gentle reminder. While preparing for assessments, don’t forget the basics:

  • get enough rest
  • move your body
  • eat nutritious meals
  • take short breaks to stay mentally fresh

Looking after yourself is part of the success strategy.

Let’s keep lifting each other up as we power through the rest of the term.

Breaksea, you’ve got this!
