Endeavour House News

The change in weather over the last couple of weeks has altered life in the house quite a bit. Winter is ramping up and the students are rushing back from sport to have a nice warm shower and a milo in the evening. Each day, there is at least one pair of shoes drying in front of the heater and students are making the necessary adjustments to cope with the cooler, wetter days. For all the farmers reading this, I hope you are all getting the rain/conditions you need!
Our IT cupboard has been reorganised and now students have been handed back all their individual charging cords, as we now have a more permanent solution for charging in the house. It is important that students look after these chargers, as they will need to be handed back at the time when the devices are changed over by the IT department at school. I encourage all students to continue to respect the IT expectations of the house; this includes limiting gaming time to 3.30pm to 4.30pm each weekday.
Kyle’s morning fitness program is taking a little breather, due to the darker mornings and with the students needing more sleep and warmth. Instead, students have pivoted to enjoy more indoor activities and interactions. Just Dance on the main tv is trending, creating lots of entertainment for everyone and even Mrs Freeman has been busting out the moves.
Academic routines have remained in the spotlight, with supervisors and tutors working hard to support the junior boarders to stay on top of homework tasks, nurture organisational skills and try out revision techniques that work for them. I’d like to particularly thank our gap assistants Kyle and Amy for their efforts, Kyol from Yalari, Penny Simpson from the English Department and student tutor Max, who assists a few times a week also.
I had some lovely feedback from a nana to let me know that their grandchild was enjoying boarding and that they felt supported and safe in this space. I encourage all families to contact me if you have feedback, both positive and negative, so we can continue to support your young people.
Happy Birthday wishes to Oliver Hall, who turned 12, on 22 May.
