Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Friends of DPS,
It has been an incredibly busy Term with two camps, Education Week and many other activities that have provided students with a rich learning experience.
Level 4 Camp was a huge success with children enjoying their experiences in the outdoors in what is colloquially known as the 'mud camp'. I’d like to thank the staff who attended Camp Rumbug including, Miss Bay, Mr Johnson, Miss El-bay, Miss Kotsiopoulos, Miss Edwards, Miss White, Mr Spinks and Hope. The team were also lucky to be joined by Brett Tomsett who volunteered to attend as part of his teaching practicum experience. Camp experiences are such an integral part of schooling, and we can’t thank staff enough for stepping away from their families and friends during this time to ensure children have a memorable experience.
Semester Reports were made available for parents on Friday and we trust that parents have had a chance to read about the wonderful progress their children are making. I'd like to acknowledge and thank teachers for the emmense amount of time in analysing students work samples to provide parents with your child's progression this Semester. The student-led conferences held yesterday were well attended and we hope parents and children enjoyed the opportunity to talk about Semester One and set some meaningful goals for Semester Two.
It has been wonderful having the public speaking winners present their speeches at Assemblies this Term. We wish Leila and Parth all the best as they go on to compete in the Manningham Rotary Competition next Term. You can read more about this in the Literacy page of the newsletter.
Congratulations to all students on your commitment to learning and for demonstrating the SWPBS values of being safe, respectful and for being your best.
On behalf of the staff at DPS, I would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday, and we look forward to seeing you all back, ready for a big second half of the year.
Determination Pride Success
