Level Six

Year 6 Interschool Sport Update
Congratulations to all our Year 6 students on a fantastic two days of interschool sport this month! The teams demonstrated dedication and teamwork, building their skills each Friday in the lead-up to the event.
Our tee-ball team made it all the way to the semi-finals, showing great determination.
The soccer team had a strong second day, winning two games and impressing everyone with their teamwork and spirit.
Volleyball reached the grand final and narrowly missed out on the win by just two points—an outstanding effort that left the whole team feeling proud.
The netball girls placed third overall and played with incredible energy and teamwork throughout the competition.
In football, the team celebrated a well-earned win and enjoyed the opportunity to grow their skills and play together as a team.
Well done to all students involved—your commitment, sportsmanship, and team spirit were fantastic to see!
Public Speaking Competition
All Year 6 students have worked incredibly hard on crafting and presenting their public speaking speeches this term. Each student showed confidence, creativity, and strong communication skills. After much deliberation, six students were selected to represent Year 6—two from each class:
- 6C: Anna C and Leila
- 6G: Parth and Ivy
- 6W: Nathaniel and Adrina
Every student should be proud of their effort and engagement throughout the process. A huge congratulations to Leila and Parth, who were selected to represent DPS at the Public Speaking Competition in Term 3. We wish them all the best!
Reading and Writing
Year 6 students have been exploring the world of poetry. We’ve read and analysed a range of poetic forms, including found poems, free verse, and ballads. Along the way, students have investigated the author’s intention and deepened their understanding of imagery, metaphors, and poetic language. The students have applied these skills to craft their own original poems. We’re looking forward to celebrating their creativity when they publish their work in Week 11!
Mathematics: Angles, Shapes, and Transformations
In Maths, Year 6 students have been learning about different types of angles, including interior, missing, and intersecting angles. A key focus has been on using mathematical vocabulary and reasoning to explain how to find unknown angles. Students have shown great growth in their reasoning skills, allowing them to understand mathematical concepts at a deeper level.
Building on this knowledge, students are now applying their understanding to explore cross-sections of 3D shapes, create tessellating patterns, and transform shapes through reflections, translations, and rotations.
We had a very successful Term 2 and are looking forward to Term 3
