Level Two

What a fantastic and action-packed second half of term 2 it’s been for our Year 2 students! We’re bursting with pride as we reflect on all they’ve achieved, explored, and enjoyed over the past few weeks.

We wrapped up our reading of Matilda by Roald Dahl, and what a hit it was! The students were captivated by Matilda’s cleverness and bravery and they had so much fun comparing the story to the movie in a special classroom screening. We had insightful chats about the differences between the book and the film, and many students loved seeing their favourite characters come to life on screen.

In writing, we’ve kicked off our unit on procedure texts, and it’s been a recipe for success, literally! The students have dived into learning how to write clear, step-by-step instructions. They've been practicing everything from “How to Brush Your Teeth” to “How to Make Fairy Bread.” The highlight thoguh has been the students bringing in their treasured family recipes from home where they have been able to show off their procedure writing skills. We’ve loved seeing the pride they take in sharing their cultural dishes while showing off their growing writing skills. Our classroom has been filled with mouthwatering ideas and fabulous procedural language.

In maths, we’ve been strengthening our understanding of addition and subtraction strategies. From number lines to fact families, the students have tackled problem-solving with enthusiasm. It’s been rewarding to see their confidence grow as they explain their thinking and work together to find solutions.

This has been a wonderfully busy and rewarding term. The dedication, creativity, and curiosity shown by the students has been truly inspiring. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, positive attitude, and support for one another.

We’re looking forward to what the next term will bring, but for now, we hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest!

Warm regards,

The Year 2 Team
