CONGRATULATIONS TEAM LAURENCE ON YOUR WIN

From the 5/6's

Netball A: On Wednesday 11th of June, some of the 5/6 students went to Mary Makilop to play netball.  The A team won all of their games against Poowong, Korrumburra and Inverloch giving them a spot in the grand final against Mirboo North.  Unfortunately they lost by 6 points but played a great game.   It was a really fun day with lots of good sportsmanship and cheering from the other kids who went. The students in the A team were Jenna, Molly, Rachael, Indie, Kiara, Maeve and Bailee.

Netball B:  Our mixed netball team did a great job.  We lost to  the Leongatha Primary School but won against  Mirboo North and Inverloch.  There was lots of encouragment and cheering. On our Mixed Netball team were Addi, Ruby, Ivy, Indigo, Hannah, Matilda O, Chelsea and Felicity.   They all put in their best effort.  And a big thanks to all the people who helped out, the empires and Mary Mackillop for hosting such a great day.

Football:  Our footy team played 4 games across the day.   We lost 2  games, one to Leongatha Primary School and one to Inverloch Primary School.  Both matches were really close. We then won our last 2 games against Nyora Primary School and Loch Primary School.  On our team was Aiden C, Leo, Benji, Edward, Mahea, Ryder, Bentlee, Cooper, Kade, Casey, Elijah and Makenzi. Thanks to Mr Hughes and Mr  McGrory for coaching us.

Soccer:  We played 3 games of soccer  losing our first two games but  winning our last game. And shout out to Jordan, Arjav and Josh for scoring hat tricks and Coby for scoring 2 goals and Noah for scoring 1 goal in our last game.  In our first game we played against Chairo and we got the 1 goal in the first half and so did Chiro, and in the second half Chiro scored 2 goals which led us to defeat.   Overall, a great day.

Many thanks to Tash, Anna, Phil, Lachie and the Mary Mac students for your time and help on and before the day.

DENTAL VAN VISIT REMINDER

The Victorian Mobile Dental Health Van is visiting St Laurence's on Tuesday, 12th August. Consent forms were sent home with each child some time ago.  If you are interested in this free service, please return your form to school as soon as possible.   If you have misplaced your form, we have some at the office or you can download from the poster below using the QR code.

What will happen on the day?

  • Students will go with a staff member to the van.  Their team will start by introducing themselves to the students and explaining the day’s activities to help them feel at ease. They’ll briefly discuss oral health basics to encourage positive attitudes toward dental care.
  •  Student Appointments: Each student will be scheduled for their own dental check-up slot. During their appointment, they will provide a comprehensive exam, including teeth cleaning, fluoride application, and preventive assessments. Each check-up will be tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
  •   Communication with Parents/Guardians: After each exam, they’ll prepare individual summaries detailing the check-up results and any recommendations. These will be sent home with students to keep parents/guardians informed about their child’s oral health.
  •   Safety and Hygiene: Their mobile dental van is fully equipped to meet the highest standards of safety and hygiene, with all procedures conducted by experienced professionals who prioritise the health and well-being of our students.
