Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

This week has been another busy week, with more fun planned for next week!

Today Year 5/6 students, staff and volunteers Jarrod, Polly, Richard and Heath, enjoyed a fabulous first day of the down hill snow program with perfect snow conditions! A huge thank you to Steph for her organisation of this event and to all staff and volunteers for their support in providing our students with this opportunity.  A big shout out also to Sheepy and Howman's for their assistance with transport, which has helped reduce the cost to families. Weather conditions permitting, students will be skiing again next Thursday.

Tomorrow, Year 6 will be travelling to Wangaratta's Performing Arts Centre to present their projects as part of a Project Showcase day for the 'Kids in Space' program.  Yesterday, students set up their displays to present their conceptual models to some of the younger students.  It was wonderful to hear students talking about the process and seeing the engagement in their designs.   Students will be travelling by bus, departing at 7.45am.  Please meet in the bus shelter at 7.30am.

Due to this event, assembly has been cancelled for tomorrow.  Year 1/2 students will now present on Friday 27th June and Prep/1 will present on the last day of school, Friday 4th July.

Students in Year 3/4 have started a new rage of finger knitting!  It is great to see them so industrious and I can definitely see an entrepreneurial opportunity opening up!

Next Wednesday, 25th June, the Fruit Fly Circus will be performing a special show for our students, commencing at 2pm.  This will now be held in the Community Centre, so students will be walking from school to and from the community centre.   In the event of wet weather, please ensure your child has a rain coat and/or umbrella.

Families and friends are invited to join us on Monday 30th June, when Emily and students will present a concert of their learning over the semester.  The theme of the concert is Playing with Pitch, and will feature the xylophone, with some accompaniment provided by the choir and members of the Spookie Ukies.  We hope to see you there!

On Tuesday 1st of July, at 1 pm, we holding a 2026 Prep Information Session and School Tour, for families of students transitioning to Prep in 2026.  Please pass this information on to interested friends or family members.

Many thanks to Lee, Arkeria and the team from Alpine Health, for providing the opportunity to participate in Tuesday evening's Community Wellness workshop. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended, and we hope to be able to host more of these events in the future.

Please note that the Band Concert, planned for next week, has had to be postponed until next term.  We will provide further updates as these become available.

It seems it is not just our students that love breakfast club, as recently we have also had a cheeky Kookaburra lining up for some food.  It has even gone so far as to steal a piece of toast or sandwich right out of the hands of our students!  Given this may only get worse, students are being encouraged to eat inside for the remainder of term.
