Tales From Teaching & Learning

Dear Families,
Keelonith has been very fortunate to have been selected by La Trobe University to be involved in the Momentum Project this year as a partner school. Below is a link to an article providing information on the project which aims to support schools with improving teaching practice following the principles of the Science of Learning and explicit instruction.
As part of our involvement in this project, four of our teachers and I visited Springside Primary School on Wednesday to learn from their operational model and teaching practices. We were very fortunate to spend the entire day visiting classrooms, observing teachers and listening to their leadership team share the philosophy and operation of the school.
This was a very rich learning experience for our team and while we were very impressed with what we saw at Springside, we were also very happy to be able to reflect that our own practices and operational model at KPS were reflected in what was being shared with us. Our next steps are to share with the wider KPS team our observations and reflections on what the next improvement steps can be as we continue to improve as a teaching team.
Finally, I am so happy to share that a number of students have gone out of their way to find me out in the yard to share their excitement and pride on the progress they are making with Math Fact Lab and Numbots! We are very pleased that a large number of students are engaging regularly with the platforms and I am looking forward to more students sharing their progress with me.
