Congratulations to our Year 8 Boys Football Team! The team went undefeated in the Region Round Robin, securing dominant wins over Kew (36 points), Brentwood (38 points), and Blackburn (38 points). They then progressed to the EMR Final, where they finished as Runners-Up to Rowville.
This performance was even more impressive considering the number of key players out injured. Those who took to the field stepped up brilliantly, delivering a true team effort.
Our midfielders ran all day, led by Tom and Seamus who both kicked multiple goals. They were supported by Nash and Zach, who rotated through the middle and provided great drive out of defence. Fraser’s running power from centre half-back was a real standout and a highlight to watch! Riley, Hunter, and Finn controlled the wings with pace and smarts. Liam, a valuable addition to our region team, linked up beautifully with the midfield and forward line.
Mason was a constant threat up forward, showing strong hands overhead and pushing into the midfield when needed. At ground level, our small forwards did their job exceptionally well—roving at the feet of James, the two Coopers, Corey, and Hayden. Nate laid some fantastic tackles, while Jai made the most of his chances, kicking multiple goals.
Thanks also to Cooper B, Dom, James, Ryder, and Rylan who all rotated through the ruck and competed strongly.
Defensively, the team was outstanding—conceding just 4 goals across the Round Robin while scoring 21. Aidan was rock-solid down back, consistently repelling attacks and taking strong marks. He was supported well by Rylan, Ryder, Josh, and Amos, who also made an impact up forward with a goal.
Finishing as Runners-Up in the EMR Final is an outstanding achievement and a credit to the commitment, teamwork, and resilience of this group. Well done, boys!
