Congratulations to all of our Year 9-11 students on completing their Semester exams. Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to your studies are truly commendable. Whether you felt confident or challenged, sitting exams is an achievement in itself, and we are proud of each and every one of you.
Exams are more than just assessments; they are valuable learning tools. They help consolidate a student’s knowledge, develop critical thinking, and provide an insight into how well students understand the course material. Importantly, they also highlight areas for growth, and allow students to work towards further improvement. While exams can be stressful, they are essential in helping students build resilience and academic confidence.
We recognise that some students may have found the exam period particularly challenging or feel disappointed they have received an 'N' result. While these cannot be redeemed through the usual redemption process, we strongly encourage students to seek feedback from their teachers at the beginning of next term. These conversations can be incredibly helpful in identifying strategies for improvement and setting goals for future success.
The end-of-semester reports are released this week, providing a comprehensive overview of each student’s academic progress. We encourage all families to take the time to review these reports together. They are a great starting point for setting meaningful learning goals for the semester ahead. Reflecting on achievements and challenges alike can help students stay motivated and it is this focus that we want them to take into their subject selections for 2026.
We are excited to launch the 2026 Subject Selection process. This is a significant time for students as they begin shaping their pathways based on their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
To support families in navigating this important process, we have attached the 'Subject Selection Handbook' to this newsletter. The handbook provides detailed information about course offerings, VCE/VET/VCAL pathways, and advice to help guide informed decisions.
The 'Alternatives to VCE Night' is scheduled for Thursday 24 July. It is designed to provide students and families with an insight into the pathways available beyond the traditional VCE. The evening will include information about the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects.
We also look forward to connecting with you at our upcoming 'Senior School Information Evening' on Monday 28 July, which will be held online. This event will provide families with an opportunity to hear from Heads of Year Level and KLA Leaders, ask questions, and learn more about the course selection requirements.
In addition, we will be welcoming families to the college on Thursday 14 August for the 'Year 10 into VCE Course Confirmation interviews.' These meetings are designed to ensure every student is on a pathway that reflects both their interests and goals. Senior School Staff and members of the leadership team will work closely with students and families to provide tailored advice and support. A link to book a meeting time will be provided at the beginning of next term.
We encourage you to review the handbook with your child and begin the conversation early as subject selection is a shared journey.
