Year 10
Annie Hearne - Head of Year 10
The Year 10 students have had a busy first half of 2025! In addition to having just completed Year 10 exams (and for some, their first ever VCE exam) this week, and gearing up to undertake Work Experience next week, the students have had some wonderful opportunities both inside and outside of school.
Our Leadership team has put together a snapshot of just some of the experiences that have happened so far…
Shape Your Destiny
In term 2, Sunny from Elevate Education came out and delivered to the Year 10 students a seminar about future prospects and shaping their destiny. In the seminar, students learnt about how to pursue different pathways and strategies about how to motivate. Our favourite part of the seminar was the audience participation that kept us hooked the whole time and the way he presented his life expectations.

Year 10 Road To Zero Excursion
The Year 10 Health classes went on a day out to the Melbourne Museum to explore the Road to Zero exhibit, enhancing our understanding of the topic of road safety. In the morning session, we created an ad around a road safety slogan and then explored the Road To Zero Exhibit. As a Year 10 Health student, my favourite part was in the exhibit, where you could change the road conditions in an interactive experience to increase its safety.

Magistrates Visit
Miss Pratt took her Year 10 Courts, Parliaments and Markets class to the Melbourne Magistrates Court for an exciting excursion. MP Nick Gowan was our tour guide and explained many fun facts about the history, legislation and structure in the Magistrates court. Overall, the experience was unforgettable and assisted in our Parliament unit learning.

Holocaust Museum
On the 10th of June all students taking Year 10 History partook in an excursion to the Melbourne Holocaust Museum. Students toured around the museum and were given the chance to observe and learn about WW2 and the Holocaust along with the struggles many faced. After the tour, students were greeted by Abe Goldberg who discussed stories and his experience as a Jewish person in Nazi Germany. Students also discussed a wide variety of materials such as posters and other significant items provided key insights towards life in WW2 and Nazi Germany.

Biological Psychology Zoology Incursion
In term 2, the Biological Psychology teachers invited wildlife experts to come in and demonstrate some of the wild animals. They had a variety of animals from a large python to a small, adorable sugar glider. However, the star of the show was the massive wombat. We got the opportunity to pet them and even hold some of them. Overall, this was a really enjoyable experience and if we had the option we would love to do it again.

Intermediate sport
Year 10s have had 2 rounds of Intermediate sport this semester. In Term 1 some sports included volleyball and tennis. In Term 2 the sports included netball and footy, and the Year 10 boys won all their games and are going through to the next stage.
