Year 1 & 2
Around our level
This fortnight, students have been exploring their knowledge of data and graphs in Maths lessons. They have created bar graphs as a class and interpreted information. They have explored Venn diagrams, and conducted surveys of their peers. Students have started Place Value lessons, with Year 1 students working with numbers within 120, and Year 2 students working with numbers within 1000.

In History, our Year 1 and 2 students have been learning about past and present by exploring the history of our school. By viewing photos from the school’s 90-year celebrations, students compared what has changed and what has stayed the same, and discussed family connections to our school. Students also investigated local place names, learning how and why places were named, including the importance of traditional Indigenous names.

For wellbeing, students have been exploring how they can demonstrate Respect, Kindness, and Safety in their everyday actions at school. We revisited our classroom expectations and discussed the importance of showing kindness to those around them and practised positive ways to respond to conflict, such as saying, “Stop it, I don’t like it,” moving away, and telling a teacher rather than hurting others back. Students also learned about self-love and self-awareness by sharing and drawing qualities that they love about themselves, celebrating their strengths, interests, and unique qualities.

Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below students' certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
