Weekly school sport and physical activity permission changes
The Department of Education views weekly school sport as an important part of the school week. For sports that take place on school grounds or nearby and are low risk, you do not need to give signed permission. Instead, the school will simply let you know through usual communication channels (School Bytes).
To make things easier, schools can ask for permission for a whole term of sports at once, using one permission form.
There are four levels of permission:
1 Annual notification to parents. Which was emailed out to all parents and carers in Week 2. This outlines the procedures for our Wednesday school sports.
2 Term notification to parents. This is sent out at the start of each term to inform parents/carers of the sports that are taking place on-site or within walking distance. It also outlines all sporting options that students can choose, including those with a cost or involving transport.
3 Collective permission for a term, covering one or several sports in one form. This is used for sports that require transport via the school bus or where students are required to wear personal protective equipment, such as Cricket practice.
4 Permission for sports that require specific mandatory consent will be used for any collision sports, such as Rugby League/Union, and also includes any water-based sports.
This helps keep you informed while simplifying the process for everyone.
All school sport notifications or permissions will be sent out via School Bytes. If parents require a hard copy of these notes, students can collect them from the front office or the PE Staffroom.
