NEW FACES (2 of 2)

MEL BARNES (Maintenance)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about for the future?
My new role at BHCS is Property and Garden Maintenance. I am most excited about settling into this role and becoming part of the BHCS family.
What did you do previously?
I previously ran my own business as a handyman and landscaper for the last few years, before that I was a Youth Pastor at CityLife Church.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy photography and sports, especially cricket and footy.
AJ BARRON (Administration)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about for the future?
I have just started my new role as an administrator and am so excited to be a part of the BHCS community. I know God has put me here with purpose and given me the skills to serve the community in ways I look forward to discovering.
What did you do previously?
Previously I was an administrator for CYC Ministries. I assisted camp directors who would run ministry camps for a diverse range of people. It was an incredible ministry to be a part of.
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun I love to read and write all kinds of stories. I spend a lot of my free time volunteering for my local youth group and various camps run by CYC. I also really enjoy taking care of my pet snake named Winston and my Labrador named Chilli.
DEIRDRE LEWIS (Learning Support Administration)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about for the future?
I am the new Learning Support Administration Assistant. I look forward to contributing my little bit to ensuring our students have all the opportunities given to them to be the best they can be and reach their full-potential, in a beautiful environment, surrounded by nature.
What did you do previously?
For the past 8 years, I have worked in the not-for-profit space, in fundraising. I have worked predominantly in the international development space with organisations such as Save the Children and CARE Australia. I have been fortunate enough to also worked with faith-based organisations, too, including CBM Australia and Opportunity International. Prior to that, I worked in IT with companies including Hewlett Packard and Canon, and was blessed to be able to work and live in the UK and travel internationally.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love cars and follow the F1 pretty closely. I have a red MGB which only comes out on sunny days. I have one grandson, Spencer, who turns 2 in April and I love to spend as much time as possible with him. My daughter and daughter-in-law are both expecting babies this year, so looking forward to more grandchildren to come. I am on the SLT at my church, Follow Baptist at Officer, and I really enjoy being involved in the future of this awesome church. Other than that, I love to travel, eat yummy food and spend time with friends and family.
